Smoked Pork Chops For Lunch

I’d fired up the smoker to cook for the meat/xbox fiesta Steve Kirks and I were having on Friday night (I promise a post about this too). Sarah was going home to a bridal shower for her sister. She called on her way home from work — she took half the day off — and I asked her to pick …

Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker

Okay, so Steve Kirks has had a couple of bbq experiences at my house and now has posted about the Smokey Mountain Cooker on his blog. I think it’s a ploy to make me post more, well guess what Steve, it worked. I’ve been pondering what to post about this smoker for awhile, mainly during my blog hiatus. I have …

Agrario: Mmmmm

Last weekend Sarah and I met several of her coworkers for drinks at Bodega and dinner at Agrario. I have to say the food in Eric’s restaurants never disappoints. I had the pan seared dover sole, which was served with an onion quiche. I’ve had sole before, but this was probably the best. It was tender and moist. I think …

Salmon Cream Cheese Spread

I really like smoked salmon cream cheese. I was horrified when Panera (St. Louis Bread) pulled it from their regular cream cheese flavor offerings. My standard  there was an asiago bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese – now I settle for the sun-dried tomato. When I got the smoker I knew that smoked salmon would be something I would have …

Dinner with the Kirks

Last night Sarah and I had dinner with Steve and Tammy Kirks. Some watching of the Olympics and BBQ. Steve provided some outstanding brats from Wisconsin. We simmered them in onions and beer before tossing them on the smoker. Sarah and I provided some ribs, beans, fries, and smoked salmon spread. I figure if I’m firing up the smoker I …

Patton Alley Pub: Pork Tenderloin

Most people who know me, or read this blog, know I’m a huge fan of Patton Alley Pub. They’ve got some of the best burgers in town and it’s impossible to beat their happy hour specials (half price domestics on tap and half price appetizers). Sarah met me there for dinner on Friday and we invited her coworker Paula and …

The Blogging Hiatus Shall End

That’s about it. Stay tuned for regular updates. I’m going to write everything I’ve thought about blogging but haven’t for whatever reason. I’ve got no real excuse for the lack of blogging. There are several possible reasons for this hiatus: I’m bored with it I’m getting all the creative outlet I need at work I’m just too busy I’m not …

Happy New Year 2006!

Here’s hoping that everybody has a happy, healthy 2006 full of good food and good friends. Sarah and I used to have New Year’s Eve parties, but we’ve decided that we’d rather do other things on NYE than host a party, so this year we had a bash the Friday before (possibly a new tradition). Stay tuned for all the …

Tasia

Sarah and had the opportunity to eat at Tasia for the second time last night. Once again the food was outstanding. I’ve decided that restaurant reviews really require two visits (or at least different entrees to be fair). Last time we went with our friend Katie, this time it was just us. Tasia, which has the slogan a taste of …

Merry Christmas

I’m writing this from my sister’s house before Christmas Eve dinner and heading to church at the Church of the Ressurection. Tomorrow we’ll be at my mom’s house, but she has no internet (and is PROUD of it). Tomorrow morning we’ll be doing the standard Christmas morning routine: breakfast, presents, then Christmas dinner. What are your Christmas plans?

Chex Mix

I really like chex mix. It’s so much better when you make it yourself. I’m not sure why we only make it at holiday times and settle for the crap in the bag the rest of the year — especially given that the stuff you buy doesn’t include nuts. I made a double batch last night. I pretty much follow …

Christmas Cookies & Other Odd thoughs

So I’ve been feeling a lack of desire to blog lately. Last week I’d decided I was going to start a new series on Christmas cookies. Everybody loves cookies that this time of the year and there are a lot of recipes that could be blogged. I just don’t seem to have a passion for it much any more. A …
